Weight Loss: Nutrition IS The Key

chicken with mushroom cream sauceI meet heaps of people who are trying to lose weight (obviously!) but the thing is many people don’t seem to get the fact that when it comes to weight loss, NUTRITION IS THE KEY!

My daughters 18 year old girlfriend inspired this post because the other day she was having a crisis. The reason behind this was that she has been stuck in a rut and couldn’t understand why she wasn’t losing any weight. She goes to the gym everyday, sometimes twice a day BUT…no results.

Well the first thing I said was ‘You can’t eat sh*t and expect to lose weight, it just doesn’t work that way’. ‘It doens’t matter how much exercise you do, if you are filling your mouth with McDonalds, tacos, sandwiches and sugary cereals, you will NEVER get the results you want’.

There is a simple equation when it comes to weight loss and it goes like this.

70-80% of your results will come from nutrition

20-30% of your results will come from your exercise

This equation is clearly demonstrated through my daughter’s friends experience above. If you are doing all the exercise in the world and your nutrition still sucks, you will struggle to lose weight, period!

Well to me it was a fairly simple solution. I sat my daughters friend down and we adjusted a few important things and 2 weeks later she is already down 5 pounds (2.3kg). It’s all about eating clean, natural food that nourishes your body. Cutting out those processed foods, heavy carbs and sugars that spike your blood sugar levels throughout the day and suck the life out of you.

Once you do that your blood sugar maintains a nice even keel and your body is then in perfect condition to start burning more fat! Simple as that!

Of course to amp up your results and help build a new body composition, then including exercise is a must.

But first things first, if you’re searching for results with your weight loss, nutrition is your answer and it’s where you need to start.

    Right on! Just because doctors recommend “diet and exercise” it doesn’t mean that diet and exercise are the same thing, nor interchangeable in terms of reaching your goals.
