Okay we are seated in the last moments of 2011 and today I did a really great thing with my partner. We sat down and created a 2012 vision board. What’s this?
Well, it’s a visual creation of everything we want to create in our lives for the year coming. I got a BIG piece of paper and some colored felt pens and we sat down and drew some pictures and wrote in circles and boxes what we wanted to create for next year.
It was so much fun and now we are very clear on our direction for the coming year. It gives us a road map to focus on. We hung up the poster in our bedroom so we can look at it every day and know very clearly where we are going.
Some people like to get a board and cover it with magazine cut out pictures. I find it easier and better if I just create silly drawings on paper. The important point is that you set yourself a vision for the future. You really should try it, it may just help you reach your goals!
Anyway here’s a cap on my top 10 goals. Some of them kind of cross over but here they are.
1. Live more
Stop taking myself so seriously, there’s no need for perfection, life is too short so just put myself out there and live more.
2. Love more
My Grandma said that one thing that’s missing from life is people having time for each other. To me that means expressing more love and that’s what I intend to do. Have more time, and share more love with both my family and perfect strangers as well. You never know it may just change someones life!
3. Learn more
The more we learn the better we can become as people. And for some reason I’ve always believed that the day we stop learning we might just be better off dead. So this coming year I will keep learning about as many things as I can. That way I can keep growing and developing as a human being.
4. Get more R&R
Life is no fun without play. When we are on our death beds we are not going to look back and think about how many days we spent at the office. We are going to remember the experiences and the down time and how we were good to ourselves and enjoyed our time. So although I do work hard, I will make sure there is a balance of rest and relaxation.
5. Challenge myself out of the comfort zone more
Yep. If I think it’s hard I’m going to do it anyway. No time to waste. The comfort zone is way too comfortable, it’s the easy way out. Sometimes we need to get uncomfortable in order to get really comfortable. Hope that makes sense
6. Get at least 1 holiday in
This year I didn’t take a holiday but all that’s going to change in 2012. In alignment with my R&R, my living more, and in loving myself more. I am definitely taking at least 1 long holiday this coming year.
7. Get my teenage kids settled in the next stage of their lives
My 19 year old son has just moved out of home to start a new life and my daughter has just finished school and will be off to university next year. So I aim to be supportive and there for them whenever they need me.
8. Get myself in tip-top shape
I’ve still got many fitness goals I want to achieve this year. And I intend to be in the best shape of my life before the end of 2012.
9. Inspire more people to get healthy and transform their lives
Spread the word that “Your health is your wealth”…without health we have nothing, our wealth is pointless. In 2012 I want to help others lose weight and reclaim their health and vitality.
10. BE HAPPY!
Most importantly my goal is to be happy, smile every day and share as many smiles as I can with others. I will be grateful for all the wonderful things in my life and all the wonderful people…including you!
All the best for 2012!
I’d love to know what your goals are, so please leave me a comment below.

Love it and thanks for sharing. I think I’ll do this exercise with my daughters today and do it visually with pictures. Your list is great, think I may snag a few; particularly the first one. I take myself way too seriously and perfectionism (I suppose some fear of not doing well?) slows me down. Happy New Year!
That’s great. Do it with your daughter, she will love it! Definitely live more Brenda and let’s both let go of perfectionism and fear. Happy New Year
